What Is CITB & What Are The Benefits Of Registering?

What is CITB?

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) are an organisation that supports construction workers in a variety of ways, from helping people find employment to encouraging high-quality and safe training. CITB works closely with the Sector Skills Council for the construction industry across England, Scotland and Wales.

You can find out more about CITB here.

Who qualifies to register with CITB?

If you are an employer in the construction industry, you need to register your business with CITB. To register, you simply fill out an online form. Once you have been approved – which can take up to 10 working days – you must send a Levy Return to CITB.

The Levy Return will then need to be completed each year, and a levy charge may apply to your business depending on how much you pay your employees.

What are the advantages of being CITB registered?

There are many advantages of being registered with CITB, including:

  • Potentially being eligible for funding or grants
  • Employing CITB apprentices
  • Gaining access to learning support materials

Here at The Safety Maintenance Company, we are proud to be registered with CITB and offer a range of CITB courses. Get in touch today to find out more and get help with all of your construction training needs.
